NatCarbon Africa Completes Drone Training to Enhance Operational Excellence

Empowering Our Team with Cutting-Edge Skills to Support Sustainable Solutions

With drones increasingly used across industries worldwide, equipping operators with the skills to fly safely and lawfully has never been more important. Drone-X offers professional multirotor and fixed-wing Remote Pilot Licence (RPL) courses for both recreational and commercial drone pilots.

NatCarbon Africa’s Geospatial team is equipped with industry-leading skills and are poised to leverage drone technology to enhance our operations and drive impactful results.

As part of our ongoing efforts to remain at the forefront of technological advancements, we partnered with Drone-X, a South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA)-approved training school renowned for its excellence in unmanned aircraft system (UAS) education. The training provided our team with Remote Pilot Certificates (RPCs) for multirotor and fixed wing aircraft, ensuring compliance with aviation regulations and enabling safe, efficient, and lawful drone operations. Training completed by the team included Restricted Radio License, UASMT License as well as a BVLOS endorsement on our RPC.

The comprehensive program included both theoretical and practical training. The theoretical component featured online classes covering critical topics such as air law, meteorology, human performance, and radio communication. Practical sessions, conducted at, Stellenbosch Flying Club allowed participants to master flight techniques under the guidance of certified instructors.

One of the highlights of the training was the final skills test, where our team demonstrated their proficiency in drone operation. This rigorous assessment, overseen by Drone-X’s Chief Flight Instructor and a Designated Remote Examiner, ensured that each participant met SACAA’s high standards for certification.

Beyond acquiring technical skills, the training also emphasized the importance of operating within South Africa’s aviation laws. This includes understanding the legal framework for drone operations and the necessity of holding a valid UAS Operating Certificate (UASOC). NatCarbon is committed to upholding these standards as we integrate drone technology into our workflows. This cutting-edge technology will enable us to work more efficiently while minimizing our environmental footprint.
NatCarbon Africa’s investment in drone training underscores our commitment to innovation, safety, and sustainability. By equipping our team with these critical skills, we are well-positioned to harness the power of drone technology to deliver impactful solutions for our stakeholders and the broader community.
